WAF Interiors 2026 Awards Guide

WAF Interiors 2026 is scheduled for November 18 to 20, 2026 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale. The official World Architecture Festival page describes WAF Interiors as the renamed successor to INSIDE World Festival of Interiors and as the interior-design awards programme held alongside WAF.

What the programme says

The organizer lists nine dedicated interior categories:

3. Hotels
4. Public Buildings
5. Residential (single dwelling)
6. Retail
7. Temporary/Meanwhile uses
8. Workplace (Large)
9. Workplace (Small)

Shortlisted designers present their work live to judges and an audience at the festival. Category winners then compete for the World Interior of the Year title.

That live presentation structure is an important distinction. The award is not described as a public popularity poll or an image-only ranking. Project explanation and direct questioning form part of the final stage.

What not to claim yet

Explain the design decision

A strong image is easier to assess when the reasoning is visible. For a room study, record what the direction is trying to solve: circulation, identity, daylight, reuse, acoustic comfort, or a specific material relationship.

Compare evidence, not adjectives

Words such as timeless, luxurious, and sustainable are too broad on their own. Compare the original and proposed room, then point to specific changes: a clearer route through the furniture, less glare, retained joinery, reusable elements, or a more coherent lighting hierarchy.

Keep categories tied to use

A restaurant, workplace, shop, and private home face different wear, privacy, maintenance, and safety demands. A visually successful hospitality idea still needs translation before it belongs in a bedroom or family living room.

After the festival, this page may be updated with confirmed finalists or winners only when the official WAF source names them. Any future mention will identify the project and credited practice exactly as published by the organizer. It will not suggest that AI Interior Lab participated in the award.
